From the Grateful Dead to Gratefully Alive!

Ted's Tract: From the Grateful Dead to Gratefully Alive!

I was born and raised in central Pennsylvania. My three role models- my dad, brother, and priest-were all heavy drinkers. By the time I was 12 years old, I was already on LSD, marijuana, pills, chemicals, and alcohol. Run-ins with the law were frequent in my teen years. By age 14, I was following the Grateful Dead and other hippy bands across the country. I often stole, sold drugs, and sold tie-dyed T-shirts to support my lifestyle.

My older brother Bob heard the Gospel and got saved at work one night. When Bob got saved, he began to witness to me about the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. God began to work in my heart, and I finally gave my life to the Lord while training in Fort Benning, Georgia, just one month before my 18th birthday. God called me to preach, and I surrendered to the call early in 1994.

Since then, God has given me a beautiful wife and five precious children. My family and I have traveled the country many times over. By God’s grace, I have preached over 5,000 sermons and have seen untold multitudes come to Jesus Christ. What I thought was love, joy, and peace was really the devil’s counterfeit. Now I have real love, joy, and peace in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dear friend, will you please take the time to read the following message? This is the very message that changed my life. It can change yours too.

Is Your Soul Saved?

1. The Fact of Sin

The Bible teaches us that we were all born sinners.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23)

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” (Romans 3:10)

The Bible teaches us that we have all broken God’s laws and have rebelled against Him.

“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way…” (Isaiah 53:6)

2. The Fact of Separation from God

The Bible teaches us that because we are sinners by birth, we are unable to be in fellowship with God.

“For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23)

This means physical and eternal death.

“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15)

Men are born separated from God, and as sinners are destined to remain separated from God in the lake of fire.

3. The Fact of Shed Blood

The Bible teaches us that Jesus Christ shed His blood on Calvary’s cross to pay the penalty for our sin.

“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” (Romans 5: 6-9)

Jesus bled and died on Calvary’s cross. He was buried and three days later He arose from the dead. On Calvary he died in our place and for our sin. He is the only acceptable sacrifice the heavenly Father will acknowledge for our sins.

4. The Fact of Salvation in Jesus Christ

The Bible teaches us that to be saved we must repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for the saving of our souls.

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (John 1:12)

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

Dear friend, simply repent of your sins and call on Jesus to forgive you and save your soul!
